Welcome to PrairieCat
As a member of the Prairie Area Library System (PALS), the Hanover Township Library has its collection of books, audiobooks, videos and DVDs cataloged in PrairieCat, the newly formed online library consortium of 200 other participating libraries. This consortium includes libraries throughout Northern Illinois and Eastern Iowa. More than nine million items are available for circulation.
You may do a simple search or an advanced search. You may search all the libraries in the consortium or choose a specific library (use the dropdown box next to "library" to choose a specific one).
- Search via any of the text fields (e.g., author, title, subject, etc.)
- If you search by a title that begins with "a, an, or the," do not include the article. Search "Da Vinci Code" instead of "The Da Vinci Code."
- If you do an advanced search, you can also search by "material type" (e.g., book, book on CD, DVD, large print book, etc.), as well as title and author.
If you find any item(s) you would like to order, please call, email or visit the library. Please be sure to give the full title of the item and the author if it's a book or audiobook.
The Hanover Library can also place interlibrary loan requests in several other databases in addition to PrairieCat.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Policies
- Patrons have access to interlibrary loan materials, as long as they have no overdue items and/or fines.
- The librarian will search online databases to determine if items a patron wishes to obtain are available via ILL. Or, patrons may search PrairieCat to find item(s).
- Patrons may request up to 4 ILL items at a time. A form is available or the requests may be made via phone or e-mail. THE LIBRARIAN WILL NOT ACCEPT AND KEEP TRACK OF LISTS.
- ILL ITEMS ARE NOT RENEWABLE.
- Patrons must return ILL items to the Hanover Township Library by their due dates so that the librarian can return ILL items to the library of ownership without incurring any fines.
- The patron must pay any fines charged to the Hanover Township Library for overdue ILL items.
- The patron is responsible for the cost of a lost/damaged ILL item.
- The patron is responsible for any postage fees if items are ordered from another state.
