1/17-18/2010 - Closeout sale at the Hanover Lumber Yard Boutique on King Day Weekend. Sunday, January 17th and Monday, January 18th, 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Home decor, jewelry, organic bath products, clothing, gifts, garden and outdoor decor.
12/3-6/2009 - The Back Street Players and The Plum River Players present their first joint production: The Rented Christmas. Dessert theater tickets are $12, available at Apple River State Bank for Hanover performances and at Eccentrics for Stockton's. Show times are at 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 3 and 4 at the Hanover Township Hall; at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 and 2:00 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Stockton Masonic Hall.
9/19/2009 - Join the entire community for the Mallardfest parade, bands, kids' activities, balloon rides, Oktoberfest beer/wine garden and much more. New Image Salon will collect donations for Locks of Love, and Rob Erdmann is back at the library before the parade with his magic and storytelling show.
7/3-5/2009 - Hanover celebrates our nation's independence with Hanover Days 2008. Check the schedule and then stop by for the parade, fireworks, canoe race, live music and alumni reunion.
6/27/2009 - Bring your lawn chairs and an appetite! The HPTD will be showing a free movie in appreciation of all the community support it has received during the past six years.
6/20/2009 - Support the VFW's building materials fundraiser at the Rib Eye Steak Fry Saturday, June 20, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. $15 includes a prime cut rib eye steak (grilled by you or a cook), baked potato and salad. Tickets sold at the door or in advance from the VFW, Apple River Bank, Village Hall and the Elizabeth Garage.
6/13/2009 - Donnybrook in the Park starts at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, for its final year, to honor Tommy Sheridan and in loving memory of Dennis Baker. Proceeds from this event will support the Hanover beautification project. Visit irishparty.net for complete details!
5/2009 - We have been notified of some ongoing summer events of interest to travelers and locals alike:
Farmer's market Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. till noon on the 200 block of Jefferson (Main) Street
Gift shop liquidation sale at the old lumber yard (Washington Street along the river) Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
3/12/2009 - The Hanover Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a St. Patrick's Day dinner on Thursday, March 12th, from 5 to 8:00 p.m. at the VFW Club. The $10 adult and $5 child donation includes a traditional corned beef dinner and entertainment. Irish coffee and grasshoppers are also available.
2/21/2009 - Join Nettie Richmond Embry on Saturday, February 21st, at 5:00 p.m. for the Grand Opening of her New Image Salon on Hanover's Main Street (old dentist office). Drinks and appetizers will be provided, as well as door prizes.
1/14/2009 - The Hanover Chamber of Commerce is kicking off the year with a meeting to install new officers and look ahead at 2009, on Wednesday, January 14th, at the VFW Club at 6:00 p.m.
12/17/2008 - You're invited to a Holiday Business After Hours at Apple River State Bank from 5 - 6:30 p.m. Appetizers, refreshments and entertainment provided. We're very proud to welcome our new businesses.
12/13/2008 - Come have some fun at the Hanover Township Park District's Children's Christmas Party. From 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., enjoy story time with Frank McCann, JoJo the Clown, a coloring station, activities with Laura Gray, and more. Santa Claus arrives at noon. Pictures with Santa are $3.

Soup Day is at the Hanover United Methodist Church on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4th, from 11 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Featuring chili, vegetable beef and chicken noodle soup. You can also purchase chicken salad, ham and beef barbecue sandwiches, salads, cakes and pies.
The Jo Daviess All-Church Bazaar will be held Saturday, November 22nd, at the Hanover Township Park District (former River Ridge Elementary School Building) from 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All houses of worship are encouraged to participate, and admission is free.
10/25/2008 - Dinner, dancing and drinks! Stop by the Park District to enjoy the Hanover Historical Society spaghetti supper from 5 to 8:00 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 25th. Then, walk or fly over to the VFW Club for the Halloween party, featuring Larry Michael, the Mississippi Man.
10/22/2008 - Come to the last VFW Taco Night of 2008 on Wed., Oct. 22nd, from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Pork, chicken or beef tacos are $1 each, and margaritas cost only $3. Also, reserve your orders with DeeDee Aadson for her one-night-only return-from-retirement calzone night on Sat., Nov. 1st.
10/13/2008 - Loran, the newborn son of Nia and Charlie Ahmedi, was born with a severe heart defect, and the community is banding together to help raise funds at a spaghetti supper at Charlie's Place on Monday, Oct. 13, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.
10/12/2008 - This Sunday, Rocky Waters Winery stages its Grand Opening Sunday, complete with live entertainment, in the form of the Red Berry Elders, in their second appearance in Hanover, featuring Maurie Grafton on banjo. This beautiful new winery, at the top of Turner Hill just east of Hanover on Hanover Road, features a great deck overlooking the valley, with comfortable seating and Rocky Waters' great wines. From 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., the band will be playing lively and upbeat bluegrass, with occasional forays into Hawaiian music with slide guitars and ukuleles.
9/20/2008 - This year's Mallardfest promises to be a great time for young and old. Join the entire community for the parade, bands, kids' activities and refreshments galore.
At 10:30 a.m., Rob Erdmann will present his program on the front lawn of the library. There will be magic, puppets, ventriloquism, lots of audience participations, and prizes.
